In February 2022, the Azande Kingdom was restored after 117 years since King Gbudue was killed by the colonial power in 1905. The Azande Kingdom is one of the oldest Kingdoms in Africa which was destroyed following the killing of King Gbudue. After more than a century, the Kingdom has been finally restored to enhance, promote and preserve the Azande cultures, traditions, and heritage as well as uniting the Azande and their neighboring communities to maintain peaceful co-existence and harmony among the communities of Western Equatoria State and entire South Sudan

The main purpose of the Azande Kingdom is to preserve, promote and develop the positive cultures and traditions of the Azande to boost socio-economic development in the Azande constituencies while strengthening peaceful coexistence with its territorial neighboring communities in Western Equatoria State and beyond. This purpose shall be pursued in full conformity with the national and universally acceptable legal frameworks
